Think of it this way the glue is a vulcaniser like welding it joins both surfaces together, if they arent compatible it wont work.

The modern innertubes have less rubber so are less flexible and the patches stretch... So i use old inner tubes of same type as new tubes and good vulcaniser.. It never fails also ruff up both surfaces well...

I always carry a can of tyre weld now. After being told if its capable use at fixing punctures on tubed tyres. There was a little bit of doubt till, my mates TA had a blow out coming off the ferry, he had to be recovered. So a chance came. It worked and was still up 3 weeks later. So that's enough for me, at least it will get you off the trail or road to a safer/cleaner place to sort it.

Run the tubes with some Slime in them it may help and like beads it will help balance your tyre
