Yep - I have read where some say there is no difference, but I definitely noticed a difference - the Chinese ones were nowhere near as good as the German ones - hence my continuing quest to find a suitable replacement.

I always found that Metzler tyres squared off very quickly. A tyre with a similar tread pattern that doesn’t square off and therefore lasts a lot longer is the Continental TKC70..

Bit more expensive but you only have to on the road . Getting about 10.000 back and 11000 out the front

Just ridden 2,000 miles down to Nice and back via the French Alps and the Vercors, on the new Anakee Adventure tyre on my fully laden one up Explorer. All tarmac and mainly dry. Was very impressed with the feel and handling in both wet and dry. No complaints whatsoever. If it returns in excess of 8k, I’ll be having another.

Eventually, I managed to get a good run out on the BatBike today for a proper test on the new Anakee Adventure tyres, after meeting a few other ABR members.

Covered around 150 miles today with a mixture of dry roads, motorways, A & B roads, single track and gravel trails, with some rain thrown in for good measure.

They felt solid giving no cause for concern at any point of the day, so all good so far :D

Let's see how they long they last 8-)

A stop for a spot of fishing off the gravel track

So having only covered about 400 miles since the new tyres were fitted, i got the Panzer out today for a few more miles.

All was good until I was going in the direction of home, only to be alerted that my rear tyre was losing pressue.

In the next town, a quick check confirmed I'd picked up a 3' nail

After a previous puncture, I now carry a Stop& Go repair kit.

This was my first roadside repair, and if you follow the 'Idiots Guide' supplied in the kit you can't go wrong.

Then it was out with the 'Airman' pump to reinflate to the required pressure, which was done in a few minutes.

After riding the 15 miles or so home, I kept an eye on the tyre pressures and all seems ok.

So, if you're looking for kit something like this, I can recommend these two items.

Glad you got it sorted.......not much luck within 400 miles of a newly fitted tyre, suppose it can happen anytime. :?

That repair kit seems a priceless piece of kit to carry....!!
