Post by Heff »

The BatBike needs new rubber (1200GSA)

Getting a pair of the new Michelin Anakee Adventure fitted on Wednesday.

Has anyone else got them, and what are your thoughts :?:

Thanks

Had a rear one fitted last month on my Triumph Explorer, as couldn’t source an Anakee 2 (my preferred choice) in time for the MOT. So far so good, and feels very much like the 2. Expirenced a little twitch pulling out of junction, but that was probably me grabbing a bit too much throttle to bring her upright. Off to the French Alps in 10 days, so should find out then what they’re like.

Sorry a bit a late Heff
Only just seen this post
I had them fitted on mine about two thousand miles ago and without doubt there there worst tyre I have had on my GS
But other people told me how good they stuck in the wet and dry
mine must have been cheap copy’s because the bike was transformed to a nervous wreck once they went on
I found them very hard and skittish in corners and changing direction fast was very scary
Must have been made more with off road in mind than making progress on the road
Bike now gone as they put me right of it after doing nearly 80k on it as well
If your not the lead dog the view never change's

I have only covered 25 miles and that was the date they were fitted.

The weather here in NI has been basic, with persistent rain, and yet more rain forecast.

Will post my views when I get a few miles done when the weather improves ;)

Thought I would try a pair of Karoo Street (on going quest to find a suitable replacement for the Metzeler Tourance), a bit strange at first compared with my previous tyres, but with almost 800 miles on them now I am getting on with them well & they seem to grip good in wet which was my main concern.

Not expecting the same mileage from the rear as previous tyres though - time will tell.

I'll be fitting new rubber on the rear of the V-Strom (when it stops raining so much), I'll probably go back to the standard Tourance (non Next) again.

Took the new Anakee Adventure out for a spin on Tuesday before heading off to the Alps tomorrow evening. Rode on a mixture of wet and dry Cotswold roads, and to be honest felt pretty good. No reservations about my upcoming trip. Will report back in a couple of weeks.

Hi Peter

The original 'German' Tourance was a brilliant all round tyre for the Adventure bike.

Sadly, all the Tourance tyres are now made in China and the quality has went out the window, as has their sales, hence the ongoing search for suitable replacement all rounder tyre by myself and others
