so a layer of air will be ok then :? ;)
Bit difficult to achieve and air is not a good insulator.

put your finger next to a plug socket, does the electrickery jump through the air to your finger? no, good insulator then.
although I can see a small flaw in my idea

many times, I have stood on top of a welsh mountain in the rain, with trusty long carbon fibre pole up to the stormy sky, but never once have I been caught and put in a secure place

But it isn´t the electrickery that needs insulating. It's the heat, to stop it being transferred to the metal bar, rather than the
grip which is what you want to warm up... Or have I misunderstood?

Greetings,

Perhaps some self amalgamating tape might be suitable for your use. Buy a roll and what is left you can use to encase your wiring loom.

Having recently fitted some Oxford heated grips onto some Renthal bars it beats me how anyone finds room to fit tape etc. between the two??
The bars had to be sanded smooth first to have any chance of getting them on, and even then it still took a lot of force!!

With them you can leave the grips on a radiator overnight, or even better especially in this cold weather you could pop them into a bucket of hot water.
Anything to soften them up and expand..

When I have used the heat pads like Heat Daemon I have had too on occasion buy two sets of grips so you can use both throttle grips to accommodate the extra diameter on clutch side.
