well done--at least its checked out and no damage. On the Cat its simply that lead compounds (added to the fuel to increase octane rating) sit on the surface of the cat and pollute it . Thats why we have lead free fuel throughout the western world now. You can buy octane boosters in a bottle that are lead free--not sure whether you can get any but worth carrying a bottle and trying it if the problem recurs.
