Rear brake disc change on f800gs

Post by Craggrat »

Hi guys
I need to change my rear brake disc/rotor on my f800gs, im looking at buying a brembo disc, my bike is a 2011 model, but when I’ve been looking on eBay they have every year but 2011.
Are the 2011 compatible with other years of manufacture.
I’ve messaged brembo, but they haven’t replied.
Changing my pads as well
I’ve heard the bolts can be difficult get out, anyone had problems with these, should I buy spares in case

Disc rotar bolts are held with loctite so need heating up ti melt the loctite then use new bolts...pence per milage thing really...

I use a plumbers gas tourch :x and a impact driver and big hammer to shock them...tighten first then loosen

I had a hell of a job getting some rusty disc bolts out of the wheel of my Aprilia Mille.

Daren't use flame because of the adjacent seals and bearings.

Wurth Rostoff Ice was a help.

Two were really difficult. I ended up cutting a slot across the head with a Dremel and tapping them round with a chisel.

and yes, have replacement bolts ready to go in.

According to this https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop ... 5_72_HA_60 the discs are the same, I think.

Take your time at it . A good torx bit , if that's what BMW use? and a long bar will normally do it but don't rush and slip as you will at best bash knuckles and at worst round out the bolt. Cross reference the part numbers with a BMW fische ?

Think I’ll order a few studs/bolts as well 😂
