The Mitas MC 23 seem ok on dry hard stony tracks e.g dry Pyrenees type pistes. On my recent TET encountered some wet muddy conditions and weren't very sure footed there.
Rear lasts reasonably well, think I got 3500 ish km , front is now on 5500 ish km and is badly cupped and horribly noisy, should have turned it earlier though is supposdley directional..
Not sure I'll bother with them again unless I needed the extra mileage over something like the Maxxis IT which is better on the dirt and fine on tar too.
Choices choices  Think Minky has the right idea with a couple of spare rear wheels with different tyres according to where you're going

funny thing tyres seen the new metzler m360 and the blurb was good ...i dont mind the old unicross on the road ..its not great but its ok so i got suckered into buying two 360s on offer at deamon tweeks ...

omg ...ive had some pretty scetchy tyres in me time but they were horrendous ..only did five miles ..cant comment off road as i were to scared to ride the bike to get there how they ever got a dot marking without a huge bung i dont know :o

i belive phil twatted a anakee wild in less than 2k so thats pretty rubbish too ..

anyway i sold them to sid with a big disclaimer for off road only .....

the search goes on
