Hi fellas
So I’m playing with my new Montana and base amp trying to figure it out. So with out forking a huge some of money for os mapping I’ve managed to overlay kmz os files into base amp in the correct locations of trails I’m going to explore extract below:
Now I’m struggling to get these into the Montana. I’m 100% sure the t has the capability to read and display but I can’t get the KMZ files to transfer via base amp. It demands them to be jpegs which they’re not.
So google suggests it’s a common issue and you simply copy it in to your custom maps folder on the Garmin, so I’ve done that but I can’t get the Garmin to display the files
Help me please!!

Re: Garmin Montana Basecamp help
I downloaded the Topo maps for free, and put them on the SD card in my Montana. This means they're always available for the Montana, and when I connect the Montana to the PC, they are also available to use with Basecamp.
Current bike is a Yamaha T7

Re: Garmin Montana Basecamp help
I'm a learner at this stuff, but as far as I know KMZ File extension is used for either tracks/routes or place markers, not the actual maps which are usually called something like gmapsupp.img, so you are possibly saving the map as the wrong format?, dunno for sure
Re: Garmin Montana Basecamp help
No i've seen it on google where the KMZ files are transeferred in to the background of the montana. Now i;ve copied mine across and they are located correctly and aligned but they dont show.HedgeHopper wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 7:27 am I'm a learner at this stuff, but as far as I know KMZ File extension is used for either tracks/routes or place markers, not the actual maps which are usually called something like gmapsupp.img, so you are possibly saving the map as the wrong format?, dunno for sure

Gpx Are garmin file type names, kml and z are google file names.... You need to convert the file to garmin gpx and then open as track even if its originally a route lol....

I think this: ttps://www.garmin.com/us/products/onthetrail/custommaps is what Cone is trying to do. Create a custom map overlay rather than a track to follow on an existing map.
