It's not pedantic, Darly, you're right - but it's not a birds eye overlay which you can use for mapping purposes. does that make sense?

I think I see where you're coming from. It's not a map per-se, just a georeferenced image of the users choosing, which could be of a map, just without any routing information etc.

I think it's probably more useful for annotating small sections of a bigger map than what Cone was trying to do. One of the Garmin examples is overlaying the map of a historic site so that you can see where you are relative to the ruins or something like that.

I think I’m mainly going to use it to overlay the trails on base amp so I can create tracks now. That’s thanks to someone on here providing me a map. Star!
