when my Vara was MOTd recently the tester checked the front using the front lever and the back using the foot lever but had the other brake on to lock the wheel that was not on the roller to stop the bike rolling off the roller. The system using the slave master cylinder on the front left brake will only work during the front brake test but its effect on the back brake will not be tested.
