Mystery Connector

Post by andrew882 » Mon Apr 23, 2018 10:29 am

A question for the mighty ABR hive mind......

I was replacing the airfilter in my 800GS over the weekend and I found a set of connectors tucked between the battery and airbox.

I think they're aftermarket (can't find any reference to them anywhere in manuals etc) so wondered if anyone knew what they were.

Theyre on a flying lead and look a bit like 3.5mm phono connections, two of them, one in a hex-shaped housing. can't see where the wiring goes at the moment, but just wondered if any of you thinks "Ah, that'll be.........."

Cheers

BMW Touratech heated butt plug, with variable vibration options.

A photo of the plugs would help ID them ;)

Will try to get a photo and post it up. Some good guesses so far, but I'm pretty sure it's not Zimtim's suggestion. The bike has enough vibration at 70mph to make that kind of kit redundant

So I finally got chance to get the plastics off again last night, here's the enigma.

The cable/connectors are tucked down the back of the airbox, and are connected into the bike's loom via the connector with the yellow wires. The red fused wire is direct to the battery and is for some cheapo aux lights.

Ideas on a postcard marked 'WTF' to the usual addrerss please!

Looking at the three yellow wires going into the BMW connection for the Power to the sat nav

Do you have a BMW sat nav or a Garmin powered mount on your bike ?

If you have it could be part of the loom that comes with it

Try fitting a phono jack into it when you have your sat nav on
