BMW F800GS Hyperpro spring change

Post by OnHellas »

Has anyone updated the standard spring on their F800GS rear shock to a Hyperpro version?

If so how do you get the standard one off?
I’ve got a spring compression tool but can’t see a collet to remove.

Help.......and no, the new spring doesn’t come with instructions so I’m obviously missing something fairly simple.

Hi from memory there is a circlip band as a retainer, should become apparent once you start to compress the spring, looks very minimal but clearly must be upto the job. I used an old set of car spring clamps had to grind them down to nothing to get them in & wouldn't trust them on a car spring again .. I remember that bit
