Stupid meeeee!

Post by Cone »

So the other day i was removing the risers i put on the bike and checked the old bars for trueness against a new set..

All good, but whilst putting on the electronics on the left hand side of my f800 it was a bit tight so i thought, well just give it a bit of a shove... it'll be all right

Today (a whole day later) the main beam stopped working...

Well looks like i pushed the switch off the flexible pcb.. No main beams ever!!

No then, no one seems to be selling a second hand on and i have an mot coming up soon. Found ones for sale in the USA for £150 second hand without the ESA etc that I have...

Anyone have any clever suggestions for mending this.............

Not familiar with the BMW switch gear but try taking it to an auto electrician.

Can’t believe it 177 pounds for the part just over that little switch.

Greetings,

Perhaps a switch from another motorcycle might be substituted or the original repaired by an electrician or computer technician.

Might I suggest that you could find a specialist breaker to guide you, such as;

https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Home/index.php

I don't know the named company, only found them on the internet.

Hugh.

If trying to source second hand - the switch gear is possibly common to other models my gs12 switchgear is anyway.

Far too delicate for a bike that will be used offroad!--is all that delicate complexity because of canbus?--whatever happened to simple sliding contacts and properly clamped cables like a normal 3 pin plug?--anyway--good luck on fixing it.
