A two wheel drive car on winter tyres will beat a four wheel drive on summer tyres any day in these snow conditions.
Also four wheel drive with ordinary tyres may get you going, won’t help you stop however.

Very correct our 4x4 on oem rubber was abysmal on wet grass even so it got grabber all terrains and now we can pull the horse around in a trailer rather than it pulling us out.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Re: praising snow tyres
Thankfully I had some Vredestein Quatrac 5s to my wife's Auris hybrid about a week before the snow came. We had the Quatrac 3s on before and they lasted well enough to leave them on all year round.
I was going up a hill at the end of the road on Wednesday in the snow on my Cali and had to slow down as a Transit had lost all traction and was sliding across the road. My wife came past no problem at all.
My CCM with TKCs is definitely better in the snow than my Cali with Roadrunners.
Cheers Jak
