Look into getting an MLC type memory card for your dashcam's, normal memory can reach end of life very quickly when used in this type of equipment causing it to stop working for no apparent reason.
Try the Lexar or Transcend Endurance ranges.

I had never heard of that, so googled it, e.g. http://www.computerweekly.com/feature/M ... ht-for-you
Seems the SLC would be the more reliable for dashcam type use.

Certainly, but £100+ for an 8Gb SLC micro SD card is a bit steep compared to around £50 for a 64Gb MLC one.
If you want to record a days worth of riding for example, you're looking at a 64Gb card.
Normal (cheap) SD cards are TLC type memory with between 3 & 5 thousand write cycles, move to an MLC type card and you can up this to 8 to 10 thousand cycles.
An SLC type card will run 90 to 100 thousand cycles but at a vastly increased price.
Use a cheaper card by all means but consider them a consumable item, change regularly and for increased reliability do regular re-formats.
