Just a heads up in that there seems to be a few cracks on certain model years clutch casings here in France, according to the forum I post on.
Wouldn't do any harm to check if your have an XTZ or know someone who does?
Check the link and you'll see a poll where there's some showing cracks from the factory. Scroll down and you'll see some pics as to where to look.
For info.

Re: Yamaha XTZ 1200 Super Ténéré heads up for clutch casing cracks
Checked my 2011 S10 clutch casing, no cracks visible.
Maybe caused by someone over tightening the clutch casing screws?

Yep mine went noticed just outside warrant so yamaha laughed been told the steel dowels expand more than the aluminium and crack the case on some. I ended up filling the dowel hole with black sealer and sorted

The early XT's had an issue with the clutch cover cracking after about 6 months. This was due to too long dowels being used , the gasket would contract with age allowing the cover to stress on the dowels. My 2010 was replaced on warranty. Usual first symptoms are oil leaks around the gasket. On no account should the screws be tightened without first shortening the dowels a few thou.
