Motorcycle Dashcam

Post by Heff »

I occasionally ride with a helmet cam, normally when I'm away for a few days.
After my recent altercation with an oil tanker I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a permanently wired dashcam type camera system for the GSA
Found a few possible setups on eBay from China
Has anyone on here got something similar?
If I'm not online.............

I'm probably out on the Bat Bike

I've toyed with the idea after a few dodgy appnings, but I'm not actually sure whether video obtained is even admissable in court.
Can anyone clarify that?

I'm not really bothered whether it's admissible as evidence
It would be more to the benefit of the insurance company to show what happened to push liability clearly unto the other party
In my circumstances above the tanker drivers instance have admitted full liability, but onboard video was one of the first things I was asked for by my own insurance.
I'm thinking more along the lines were it's their word against yours and video clearly shows what happened

If you find a suitable camera set-up please post it up as I am interested in one also
Is there a setup that records for a few hours and then loops around so it over records indefinitely unless you want to save it ?

Pretty well all the car ones do. Usually "save on impact" too (thumbs)

Don't know if it can loop but a big 64GB memory card in there and this looks like a bargain. I'm sure someone with a bit of electrical know how could rig up a power line and it would be a gift to remove and reinstall as required.

Look at the pushbike options as they have used them for a while now...especially in the big smoke amongst despatch riders....get a front and rear...
My car and lorry have them...saves arguments and piece of mind if your carefull but works against you if you are a dick...

The Replay XD range of bullet cams also have a hardwire cable accessory to buy separately. They don't record continuously on a loop, so you would need to erase the card every trip, but they are discreet cams.
Current bike is a Yamaha T7

My Drift Ghost S has a dash cam feature with loop record, if you power it from the bike it records as soon as you turn the ignition on.

Another more expensive alternative is the INNOVV K1 at $265 [£207] + import duty

Note whilst the cameras on both are waterproof the recording units are not.
