Hi all
Time has come to change fluids on a couple of my bikes, one of which with ABS, so I'd like to get a brake bleed kit to help out - rather than through the 'ould' way.
Have any of you had any successes using them, and could you point me in the right direction.
Cheers
Pat

I don't know if ABS makes a difference but I just use a "little bleeder" one way valve. It saves having to faff about opening and closing the bleed nipple.

Hi Pat,
ive got a Mittyvac pressure pump system and it works a treat.
you can bleed brakes conventionally, or back bleed .
if your local to me call over and I'll give you a hand over a cuppa.

I did my van recently with a pressure system from Halfords, worked very well and got a good amount of air out that I'd been struggling with. Maybe you could make a master cylinder cover with a fitting on and use a similar system?

I use a large syringe from the local farm shop and with a short length of clear hose ,fill syringe and hose and use the bleed valve to fill the system.
Lower the brake reservoir prior to doing this ,quick bleed after if required

Re: Recommend me a home brake bleed kit
I have both vacuum and pressure bleeders for the car (and bikes), the vacuum bleeder fits on the bleed nipple and effectively sucks the fluid through the line while you top up the reservoir, these need both a good seal around the nipple and a good compressed air supply to create the Venturi effect. Air leaks around the nipple are common and cause problems. The pressure bleeder screws onto the top of the brake reservoir and you pump a little to create forced pressure then you just crack open the nipple and wait, the tool tops up the reservoir, then when clear fluid is seen close the nipple and move to the next. My preference (for cars) is the pressure bleeder as it requires less monitoring if working solo. The only negative aspect of pressure bleeders is when you finish and disconnect the device as it can result in s little spillage as the reservoir will be full to the brim, do you'll need to drain it back to correct levels before replacing the cap

And once you're done, there's the old trick to get the last little bit of firmness in the lever (ooer).
Pull the brake lever reasonably hard and Zip tie or Velcro it to the bar, leave overnight. It works even better if your trailering or transporting a bike, the bumps and jiggles encourage the last few bubble to float up to the reservoir.

Not so easy with the back brake but where there's a will there's a way! (thumbs)
