Metal mule frames f800gs

Post by gebrauchtwagen83 »

Need some help because I've not got the instructions. Do the brackets that bolt underneath the seat area require nuts to be attached to the other side? If so does this require the tank etc to be removed?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Dan

It's these bolts. I got nuts with them but presume they're not needed and they just screw into the bike

They don't need nuts on them. The nuts were there to keep the bolts in place when the bits were stored and obviously for when I sent them to you (thumbs)
I gave them a torque of around 35Nm.
Slap a bit of thread lock on them if your really worried.
I had them on my F650GS Twin and they did an around Ireland trip plus the Paddy Dakar and they never loosened up.

I have the same bike and panniers and they all fit on without taking the tank off.

The frame has rivnuts installed, so no just some threadlock as suggested. (thumbs)

I wouldn't thread lock them if you ever want to take em off. Them rivnuts under there are prone to spin in the frame. Locking washer be better

That's exactly what's happened with that bottom one. The rivnut is spinning in the frame, any ideas? I was thinking about just leaving it because it's all still secure but I'd rather tighten it up if possible

This is an example of how to tighten one on a bicycle frame. Might work on yours or give you an idea.
