On all my bikes, I add a fuseblock type device which allows switched and/or unswitched power connections to be made without direct connection to the battery. It makes for a neater and easier job the piling up leads on the battery for all the stuff I like to add or have available (e.g., phone chargers, satnavs, heated jacket, tyre pump). Also in my experience, powered cradles for satnavs etc. can run the battery down if connected directly to the battery.
