Might be worth bearing in mind living in Spain B)
Good tip. 40º plus where I go and with a wind 'heat' factor ...

Heatguns go from about 100 degrees C on low to easily over 300 degrees

Yes,but the parts will get nowhere near 100C before the glue lets go.

epoxies set hard ... i wonder if the differential expansion of steel and glass is why the bond releases with a bit of heat.

Back to the point, though ..... most car interior mirrors are stuck to the windscreen with a "specialist" sticky pad. Mirrors aren't light, what with dipping mechanisms etc, so maybe a "mirror pad" would solve the OPs problem. Available from all good autoparts shops :)

Any MS Polymer adhesive. Most companies supply one as a construction adhesive, most modern cars are held together with the stuff. Clean surfaces with white spirit or acetone before glueing just to be sure.

Silicon sealant for bathrooms or you could be posh and use silicon mirror adhesive, or even glazing silicon. They all work well and are VERY flexible.

Depends how long you point the thing at the glue innit.

40 odd degrees C wont bother Araldite (stated operational limit is 65 degrees C, there is some leeway (arse covering) above that)

I think you've just confirmed what I was trying to say"stated operational limit is 65 degrees C"
If the AMBIENT temperature is over 40c then its not hard to believe that in direct sunlight the temp of metal and glass might rise considerably above that,as anyone who has inadvertently leaned their hand on a car bonnet in Spain will quickly realize!
I'm not saying the glue WILL fail,I'm just saying to bear it in mind (thumbs)

Quite true, you could use one of those sticky pads made for camera mountings.
As to UK air conditioning its not needed we keep the windows firmly shut or we get wet :pinch: (thumbs)
