I wonder about long term effect of this mod on catalytic converter.
Any problems or fire
anybody blocked AIS while on stock exhaust?
Re: anybody blocked AIS while on stock exhaust?
If its on an XT660Z its a common mod, stops the back firing on overun etc, mines been like it 5yrs and no problem.
Chaos is the only camouflage that incompetence needs to operate at full capacity.
I dunno where that road goes, might as well go take a look anyway there's no where else i need to be right now.

yes, xt660z - with stock exhaust? I have tried that and no popping indeed but what is nicer bike runs smoother also. Less pron to surging. I read it's not recommended with stock cat converter as it may damage it. Some other article stated warning the cat may become dangerously hot.yoda wrote:If its on an XT660Z its a common mod, stops the back firing on overun etc, mines been like it 5yrs and no problem.
(different bike though)

Re: anybody blocked AIS while on stock exhaust?
A lot of people do this with the Pegaso fitted with the 660 Minarelli engine as fitted to the the XTZ660 and many more. It doesn't really appear to have any detrimental side effects to the bike, as already said, it just stops the popping on de-acceleration. Never noticed any problems or additional hot spots the exhaust but I have recently moved to an aftermarket exhaust so I can't comment.
In all, I've never noticed any problems

thanks. Just seen this clip. look at 12:43 something is burning in the tenere rear and at close up you can see hot red cat inside. Wonder if that guy blocked AIS or it's something else.
