I've ordered a new phone, a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and a new waterproof case for the bike. It's bloody MAHOOSIVE!
And it can take power
So I'm thinking about getting rid of the TomTom for all except long journeys and just using the phone.
What I will miss is glove friendly touch, but it's such a superior device and superior screen it seems daft not to use it.
Also I would miss loading routes via Tyre.
So what sat nav software should I use on the phone that includes GPX OR itineraray planning from Tyre? I don't mine paying for the software.

Did the same I got rid of my Garmin,I now use my Galaxy s7 I would recommend using copilot app great does not use data, you can hold and drag routes excellent for bikes.you can also plan routes.
It's the Galaxy s7 Note thats on recall. Other phones fine.

+1 - though I haven't planned a route with it. I only use the basics, but the price is right - FREE!herman wrote:I use Osmond on mine but I have not used it with tyre which I also like, let me know if it works.

Have a look at Here Maps. Used to be Nokia Maps which I believe are Garmin.
It's completely free and has downloadable global maps.
As far as a phone sat nav goes it's brilliant.

Re: Sat Nav Phone Software
I use Locus Map Pro for anything involving tracks, trails etc. that regular routing apps don't like.
For on road stuff, I am finding TomTom Go (Android version - better than the IOS version) superb. You can upload complex gpx TRACKs via the website and they then appear on your phone. The app provides excellent turn by turn voice guidance as well as clear on screen guidance of your track.
The app also does routing like many other apps. I find its quick uptake of traffic info and subsequent route amendments very good indeed.
