yes .. I agree.
two bike uses ... ?
two bikes .. !
two sets of tyres. !!
one bike `do-it-all` just don't work.
adventure type bike that can tackle a bit of trail ... fine!.
trail type bike that can tackle a bit of road ... fine!.
but don't expect trail type tyres to work fine over 80 .. or over 60?

New rear shock 5,000 miles ago.ChasF wrote:You may have a problem developing with the steering head bearings or rear suspension or possibly the swinging arm bearings? The reason I suspect something else on the bike rather that the tyres is firstly the developing wobble and theinstability when heavily loaded but this might all be a red herring. Otherwise, check /fiddle with tyre pressures and see if it changes anything
New steering head bearings 2,000 miles ago.
New wheel bearings 500 miles ago (thought it might have been that)
Usual tyre pressure is 30/33 or 33/36 loaded, but I've upped it to 36/39 today to see what happens.
I'm off on a 3 month solo trip of Europe. Can i pitch a tent in your garden? Or can you help me find interesting things to see?

Re: Weird feelings on TKC70
I have TK70's- I bought them from a reputable dealer and had them fitted.
www.IanBrownTyres.co.uk
I usually fit my own tyres & have the full support of treadtrader..who supports me no end!
The tyres I have found to be excellent!..not good...Excellent..I have used tkc80's and a whole lot of other mixed use tyres...the TK70's are excellent...if a little expensive..but you pay for what you get.
I have completed 4000 miles plus on them over 2 weeks- (little off road)...im happy 2 up with loads of luggage psi is greater than previous posts

Re: Weird feelings on TKC70
Given the TKC70 tred pattern they do seem more of a tarmac or hard road biased tyre than the knobbly TKC80 so did you see any real differences in grip off road in mud and wet conditions?

eric i should have listened to you.youre right there shite.
I had excellent handling on knobby tkc80 so on tkc70 you should have even more excellent ride on tarmac. I would look at wheel alignment unless tyre is defective. .
Re: Weird feelings on TKC70
The solid centre on the rear means it is nowhere near as good in shallow mud and on wet grass etc but mine drove me through a deep puddle with a deep mud base surprisingly well. Nowhere near a true off road tyre though. I tend to avoid mud with mine if I am honest.Andi_Archer wrote:Given the TKC70 tred pattern they do seem more of a tarmac or hard road biased tyre than the knobbly TKC80 so did you see any real differences in grip off road in mud and wet conditions?

Re: Weird feelings on TKC70
I dont have any experience of these tyres but a mate of mine swears by them, sounds weird to me that you have done 4k miles and this has just started happening and especially round right handers.
Could it be a bike issue, Spokes loose, Forks leaking, rear wheel alignment from chain adjusters etc?

I feel beneath the white there is a red skin suffering from centuries of taming.

Re: Weird feelings on TKC70
just had a thought ..
right hand bearing on front wheel hub worn ??
(hold wheel top and bottom and rattle it? for any movement)
.. they could have worn in 500 miles if not fitted properly or dry.

Re: Weird feelings on TKC70
I still think tyre pressure. I used to run 80's at a minimum of 34 psi on the road on a sub 200kg bike. If I was adding a pillion & luggage 38?
I set my 250 crf on pilot streets at 30 psi, It's worth a bit of a play to see if it makes a difference
