What is high mileage?
Re: What is high mileage?
I like to hear the tales of people who do over 100K on their bikes - how long, riding history, maintenance etc..
How about a register thread ?

cracking idea, a real world experience of daily issues not what the dealer or what bike style magazines whisper in yer ear.
keep it a bit light hearted, but genuine because we all know the gsa is the best bike in the world.

My Lump just went over the 72000 on my way home yesterday
Had a paralever bearing or something like it replaced and 2 rear shocks at the beginning when I had her. Oh and headlight bulbs
p.s. What is a service?

Wasn't/isn't there a dude on ADVRider with an 1100GS with over 500,000 miles on it?
Some bikes wear high mileage well, others don't. And some lads think 20,000 miles is high.
I'd regard anything over 100,000 as high, but I wouldn't balk at considering buying it.
FWIW, my 2000 2.5TD Volvo has 190,000 miles on it, and still serves me well... Not sure I'd find a keen buyer if I went to sell it, mind you... Sold my 276,000km Corolla for €400 - buyer drove it away.
I like the idea of looking after a bike/car and seeing how high a mileage I can get from it. My new-to-me 1150GS has just over 60,000km on it, and I'd expect to keep it till I at least double that.

He's a bike mechanic from South America - Chile I think. He does a lot of long over-landing trips through the Americas

I sold a Guzzi California with 273,000 km (170,000 miles)on the clock. Always wish I hadn't. It was the most reliable bike I ever owned, comfy, easy to work on and my best friend. Damn that mortgage!
The bloke who bought it rode it home from Geelong to Sydney. A 1000km trip.
