That's what I'm hoping, there are virtually no major engine failure that I can find which speaks volumes

It's a bit complicated as I bought it from a non Yamaha dealership, I got my local dealership to collect it Thursday. Not heard anything as yet, I'll ring them Thursday if I've not had any news.
I made the decision to send it there as I trust them implicitly having bought Yamaha's from them in the past and they've always looked after me.

Evidently it's a bit of a mess, I'm going to go to the Dealers and have a look at it Sat and find out what happens next.

First time i have heard of engine failing on ST1200 , that speaks volumes about the bike considering that if there was a even a small number of failures it would be blown out of proportion by now thanks to the internet hysteria phenomenon .

I know it's no consolation DB, but if it was a bolt that came adrift on the balance shaft at least you know the cause. Thing is, how did that happen? Is this a problem waiting to happen or a one off where the person building the engine didn't torque it up properly?

You're absolutely right, and I'm not that bothered by it all, its in very good hands - There are people in the world with bigger problems than what I've got !
I don't need it for work and as you say I know what the issue was and I'll know more on Saturday, although they did say it was a one off and I've been very unlucky which as we know by the lack of other failures worldwide is probably true.
Would I buy another ??

Dave.

P.S
Stunning Bike Loggy (Always wanted one of those)
