Cree fog lights - wiring advice

Post by macvisual » Sun Apr 17, 2016 8:24 pm

I quite fancy a pair of these Cree fog lights for my V-Strom to fit onto my Givi crash bars etc...
Can anyone advise me how they wire up to the battery please..? Thanks.

The way I did mine was to switch the live feed from the battery using a small relay controlled by the main beam.

Have you bought them ? If not DONT the chances of those being Cree at that price is about the square root of nought !!!
I bought a set of those for the wee Yamaha tendered 660 I was sorting out recently,
They did not last 3 runs NO quality in them at all ,kept spitting out the fasteners

Also there is no such ting as a "fog spot light" so beware that listing

And realistically how often are you going to ride in fog

Have a look on the V STROM forum .
My mate fitted the exact ones your looking at on his 1000 V STROM .
He followed the advice on the V STROM forum & has not had any problems with the lights in two years .

Just fit some proper CREE headlight bulbs(fan cooled circuit etc)--much brighter with half the power consumption--and decent bulbs are typically one or two LEDs so they sit in the right place (focal point) for the reflector (designed for an incandescent). I then fit VERY low power consumption catseye type LEDS (about 4) as DTRLs and just run a spur off the pilot circuit. I've also replaced one of those 35W/35W offroad type bulbs with a CREE and the difference is amazing--they have managed to get all the electronics within the same bulb envelope so it fits in the standard holder with no rearward protrusion (most offroad masks are close to the headstock).
