Hardest wearing block type tyre
Hardest wearing block type tyre
We all know the K60 seems to last forever, but if you want a tyre with a TKC 80 style tread which lasts the longest? Mitas, Karoo, GTyre, TKC, Mefo?

Mitas E 09. Proper good tyre. Don't pay extra for the Dakar version. It's not worth it.
Put a Mitas 644 Army Special on the front. Proper good do-it-all combo these two (thumbs) (thumbs)

It'll end in tears I tells ya.
Re: Hardest wearing block type tyre
Would agree with the E 09, not tried the Dakar version but understood it is a lot harder wearing.
Definately not TKCs - these wear really badly and the handling suffers once half worn.
I use MT21 on the front which is reasonably hard wearin whilst good on trails.

E 09 is what I was thinking, will try one on the rear next, only managed 2500 out of the TK

The TK on the front is doing pretty good so far.

Agreed, but you can turn them around, they're not directional.Dutchgit wrote:The MT 21's started cupping on the front fairly quickly on our (XChallenge type) bikes.

Re: Hardest wearing block type tyre
644 army front and rear--their secret is the size and the spacing of the blocks--big enough not to deform and "chop" badly, also helped by being that little bit closer together---but the gap is big enough for just about all the mud that you will encounter-- to dig down and find grip--and I've tried loads of "road legal enduro" tyres over the years. Perfect if you are expecting to do a few road miles as well.
