Getting ready for a trip over Easter, having had the bike serviced on Tuesday
Tuesday afternoon, after returning from the dealer I washed it thoroughly (although the roads were dry) as there is still a lot of salt dust about
So after leathering/drying it off on Tuesday, yesterday I set about polishing everything
I polish the exhaust, the bars/tank/wheels/driveshaft casing/engine block and heads/front suspension wishbone and shocks/rear rack/front & rear mudguards..............all with a good quality polish like Mer and then do the black plastics with a silicone spray
I also polish the clutch and fluid reservoirs, plus the levers/handguards and crashbars too
I even wash all my dirt bikes, so they spotless and also polish all their plastics and tanks, wheels and spokes
I enjoy having my bikes absolutely sparkling, even a slightly rusty 20 year old DR350 :silly:
Have I got a problem?
Do you polish your bike regularly too?

Mine are dirt bikes. That's how I like them.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

So are mine, but after doing their job in the dirt - they are washed, so they're spotless and you could eat your dinner off themBrenhden wrote:Mine are dirt bikes. That's how I like them.
I suppose it comes from competing in Trials - ride on a Sunday and then wash - ready for spannering at nights through the week, checking everything so you didn't get a DNF the following Sunday
Maybe that's why your bikes break down a lot, Bren

Re: Do you polish your bike?
Same as you JB
They are clean but get dirty then I clean them again ready for next time
A good deep clean once in a while then a quick wipe over after a dirty ride out

Re: Do you polish your bike?
Rarely, the Beemer gets a wash and brush up about once a month, the Harley is used a whole lot less but has acres of naked polished alloy so it gets a more thorough going over on about the same timescale plus whenever it gets wet and cruddy. Which isn't very often.
