The canbus (camus?) turns the socket off after turning the ignition off.

Run a fused fly lead straight off the battery with an Optimate style connector and make up a cigarette lighter socket to plugin. This way you can charge the battery off an Optimate with the canbus off and when camping plug in accessories for charge when the bike ignition is off.

Even better, buy one of those power bank chargers, and charge it on the bike via can bus using a cigarette socket fly lead converter to BMW socket available from Nippy Normans. Charge the bank while riding then charge devices while off the bike by leaving locked in panniers or top box. (thumbs)

My F650GS switches the socket off after 15 minutes to save the battery (thumbs)

I use the Optimate solution as well (thumbs)
The charging lead direct to the battery is dead useful for rotating charging in the garage -
And you can get a selection of accessory leads from Optimate now - including USB chargers, lights etc.
