both bars looks straight and level but when fitted the off side bar is 3" off the head cover yet the near side one is only 1" away ???
tried to fit them a few ways, tightening one side one turn then other side etc but still big gap on off side, the bars measure the same at 12 different places and both sides look identical.
the engine is straight in the frame too as had it checked by an engineer, is this normal with after market bits or should they fit true, they were second hand but look like new with no marks and scuffs so not been down on the ground. !!

I've fit 3 sets of engine bars albeit not to BMWs & they've fit perfect, are you sure they're for the correct year?
***just like Britney Spears oops I did it again……sold the Scrambler & as of now there may not be a replacement***

I have to say I have factory bars on mine and the measurements you mention are similar to mine. Can't explain it but suggests its normal

What year gs?
I'm not sure about WC GS, but on the first 1200's and the twin cam 1200's for some reason that is beyond me
the left cylinder is further forward.
So sounds like you have nothing to worry about.

That`s because it`s a flat twin with one con-rod in front of the other on the crankshaftgeordy paul wrote:What year gs?
