I tried removing the pinch bolts on the front forks of my f800 this morning, the bolts were very, very tight. The T40 Torx bit that I was using snapped. I went to Machine Mart for a replacement and found that there's such a thing as 'Torx plus', I deliberated for a short while, ended up 'googling' BMW Torx or Torx plus? And it didn't really resolve anything.
I ended up buying a 'Torx plus' set of bits and I must say that the fit is much snugger in the head of the bolt, so I think I got the right type, but is there a definitive answer?
Torx or Torx plus

The definitive answer will pop up.
One small tip when using any Torx bits: Insert one to see if it fits. Then, even if you think it does, go up a size. Keep repeating until you really cannot go any further. It's surprising how often you'll find that the one you thought fitted doesn't, meaning you've gone up a size or maybe more.
PS Never be tempted to ram an Allen key in either.

More interesting than torx plus though is the similarity between Bristol screw drives and the Imperial Crest (thumbs)
