I've just had the new Tom-tom Rider 400 land. First impressions are pretty good. Connection lead is different to the old type so I'll need to change the one already fitted on my bike.
It paired easily enough with my Schubert helmet which has the built in bluetooth collar.
I'll be using it for my forthcoming trip with SteveW (off this forum) to eastern Europe so I'll let you know how it copes.

i ordered it direct from Tom-tom. It took 4 days to arrive. I think UK suppliers are awaiting stock.
Re: New Tom-tom Rider 400 just arrived
I got the email offering it to me for £250.00, i already have ttRider 2 & this new one will not fit on so will be looking for another tt rider that will fit same cradle then the mrs & mine can be interchanged.
noticedthey do not have sd cards?
but if like me you plot rotue's using tyre to travel (now free with it) they have some tt rider for sale reduced as well.
with tyre you can only plot up to 50 waypoints with Rider V2 but 100 with the later verson unles you split it & have it as more than 1 inirrery.
tyre also has all of his how to on youtube

Re: New Tom-tom Rider 400 just arrived
I'd like to see a proper review of this unit, I reckon if it were a new bike oriented Garmin, we would have seen several by now.
I am keen to know:
1. Can it follow tracks or only routes?
2. Can it follow mixed (road, off-road routes/tracks)
3. Everything the ads don't say. On the evidence of the ads, it seems to offer very little apart from a price advantage over Garmin but at the cost of a massive shortfall in features.

If Tom-Tom ever bring put their own off line mapping program as Garmin have, they'll take a lot of Garmin's customers away, as it is having to use on line stuff, it'll always be second best..
Re: New Tom-tom Rider 400 just arrived
Okay just a little update on the new tom-tom 400.
Screen is much better than older version - sharper and clearer
Tomtom advertise this as being able to go from portrait to landscape mode in 'just a twist'. This is not the case. The four allen bolts on the rear of the mount have to be loosened before the orientation can be changed, so it can't be done whilst on the move so to speak.
The menu takes a little getting used to but it does become simpler in time.
I'll add more info as the weeks go on....
