I take it they work on "Downside Up" forks as well Phil.

Well spotted Mark, but after 2years & 2 months there will be a shed load of new members who might appreciate this little trick.
So good to have some refresher courses. :) (thumbs)

I'll second (or is that third/forth/?) the effectiveness of these little gems. Done several bikes already without having to change the seals. Works a treat.

Agree it's best to avoid the problem in the first place, why don't manufacturers put them on as standard???

Agree. They put bellows gaiters on conventional forks, I cannot see any reason they cannot work the other way around. There may be less room but they could make the ribs smaller.

Before setting off on a big trip on my S10 I contemplated taking the gaiters off of an XT660Z or similar and squeezing them on. My dealer advised the socks so that's what I did and it worked for 35k miles with only 3 washes.

Anyone ???

Socks or gaiters?
Gaiter definition - a flexible covering for the base of a gear lever or other mechanical part.

Sock definition - a garment for the foot and lower part of the leg, typically knitted from wool, cotton, or nylon. :pinch:

Please inform your dealer that socks are specifically for human legs. Gaiters are defined as above. (thumbs)

Got my sealmate Thursday & used it on the offending seal (Suzuki DR200 Djebel)
Did 300k's yesterday Road & Hampshire lanes & not a drip of oil was spilled.
So for me & my problem seal this little jem has worked a treat.

been using one for a while now on my ktm 400exc, with great effect, it does what it says and normally very easily stops the seal leaking, also use kriega fork gaitors, so easy to put on and remove and along with the seal cleaner keeps them tip top

Ive been using one of these for a while on my enduro bike.

Cannot fault it, also nice and easy to use as it clips around the fork tube.
