Battery Advice

Post by jarvis »

Just a quick one, I need a new battery for my KTM 640 adventure. Prices range from £25.00 - £110.00.....so what the difference between a gell and a normal one? Surely the voltage my bike produces cant change so how can they be advertised as an upgrade?? Any advice greatly appreciated......and no I'm not technically minded...

Only advice I'd give is buy a good branded one, check the cca is the same (cold cranking amps) and don't buy it from Ktm. They quoted me £140 for a identical battery I got from honda for £50

+1 on Motobatt :) Mine's cold started for the last 6 months first, or second time, every time !

PS. Sometimes with a couple of weeks in between starts...

Gel all the way so no leaks if cracked or topping up..there plates are thicker so stronger and last longer with better discharge rates..
Some batt have higher rates for same size..again more is better as less stressed.
