DRZ Off Road Tyres.. What's best for mud !!!

Post by Jammin »

I'm after a bit of advice on what tyres to use on my DRZ.
Currently run TKC's but they're pants in the mud.
What would be a good alternative?
Not worried about tyre wear, only do about 500 miles a year.

I think any of the road legal enduro tyres will do. Try mitas tyres as quite a lot of them are road legal and speed rated.
I used to really like the one that used to be the ten master, very good all round tyre for the back, I think it's the C02 now.

Tyres are very subjective, I've never had any problems with tkc's on my drz, the mud I've got stuck in, no tyre would've helped, personally I don't like thick mud, I don't find that fun at all, the tkc's are a good combo tyre, but expensive though.

Look at a Michelin AC10, they are basically a road legal Moto-X tyre. I rode on a pair in Portugal in deep gravel and sand they were brilliant. If you want propulsion in mud the tread pattern needs to be that open, a 50/50 road tyre like the TKC or the E09 will fill up with mud between the treads.

+1. Had the michelin comp IV on the DRZ a couple of years ago. Cracking in the mud, road manners are a little  . Rear 'just' about lasted 1500 miles - so should last you 3 years Jammin!

the e09 is in a different league to the tkc when it comes to mud
