Africa with Africa Twin

Post by Chris S »

On the crumbling western edge of Africa.

Image
Bridge near Rabat.

Image
Legzira Arch.

Image
Ancient Santana Landrover.

Image
Fish & chips fresh off the line, Western Sahara.

Image
And decent cafe con leche in these former Spanish lands.

Image
Nice angles, Mr.

Image
Shoveling sand onto the highway out of Laayoune. WTF?!

Image
Atlantic Highway. Great place to be on an AT. Desert to either side, not so sure yet.

Image
Tea in the Sahara. Wasn't that a Police song?

Image
Letting rip in Dakhla Bay. It's windy.

Image
Adjustable Palmer screen – just what was needed.

Image
Tankside bags to make the AT fall less flat (like a Boxer) so I have a chance of picking it up.

Image
Not far now.

Nice pics & enjoyed the story in Bike.

Could it be the sand is to stop melting tar sticking to truck tyres (like putting flour on a rolling-pin) and pulling the road up?

I've seen it used for this in the baking hot bad-lands of Dorsetshire!

I did feel a tad nervous, especially on that Africa Tank, but you've got to remind yourself:
I've done it before, I can do it again.

Plan was to do it with two others.
Would have been a great trip but they had to bail last minute.

I enjoyed the Bike magazine article and in it I think you said you had to leave the AT in Africa when the sump was holed. Do you expect o be able to get it back?

Yep, as soon as their lockdown ends and the countries in between and quarantine and all the rest.
