North Somerset lanes

Post by Godspeed »

I got up early this morning to do a loop of the lanes under Bristol and across to Bath.

We really are quite blessed with the lanes here, we have some incredibly technical lanes, extended underwater lanes, long scenic ones and lots of pretty little villages and fords in between to make the ride to each a pleasure. I think I must have ridden about thirty miles in all taking in at least 20 byways and there were still lots that I didn’t do. I decided not to do the underwater stuff today as I need dry boots for on-call on Tuesday 😂😂

Nice duck. A teal, I believe.

And talking of animals, did you leave home with that sheep sitting on the seat or did it join you along the way?

Chris is right, we do have some superb lanes in our area, I've been riding them for 40 years now and some have changed a lot in that time.

One thing I will say, we (as trail riders) are sometimes quick to criticise authorities for closing lanes but since it was formed BANES (Bath & N.E. Somerset) have been very good in keeping lanes open. Re-surfacing, imposing width-restrictions on lanes that are unsuitable for larger vehicles etc.

There are quite a few lanes that they could have quite easily closed but have worked to keep them open and availble to trail riders.

Not an an area I have really looked at, perhaps I should open the OS map of the area, unless perhaps there was an invite in the air from a local knowledge expert. ;)

You live in an excellent area for trail riding, countless lanes around Llanelli/Lllandovery

you are correct there are a few around my patch, and I do or have ride/ridden the majority of them but as many others I would imagine new area's,trails or roads are always welcomed to try. but obviously no leisure riding here at the moment
