Thankyou thankyou THANKYOU

Thankyou thankyou THANKYOU!

Your route through northern England rescued me from motorcycle despair! What with the constant barrage of torrential rain and storms that have been the norm for what seems like months now I was getting desperate for a 2 wheeled fix, so when a brief weather window popped up on the forecast mid week I though 'Sod it'. I threw some clothes in my Kriega US30, strapped it to the Tenere, loaded your route into my phone and set off.

Leaving from Kendal I popped in to Solway Aviation Museum on my way to the routes start point...just to see the mighty Vulcan...Well you would wouldn't you? ;)

Wide open spaces are the theme for this route, it's hard to believe you are still in congested Britain for much of it

It takes you from coastal causways, through tiny mountain roads over firing ranges!!! I may have been somewhere I shouldn't at this point  if you look closely in the pic you can see tracer rounds being fired in the background!!! ... pic to follow as I can't seem to post more than 3 pics?!?

To say my bowels loosened when they started firing is an understatement!!!

A cheeky ford crossing was a fun start to day 2! especially as it was ice on either side!!! Luckily I'd walked it before hand...most unlike me ;)

The fact that pretty much all of this route is on traffic free back roads really made it, it keeps the riding varied and gives you time to look around. All too soon I was back heading homewards, just a pitstop at the filling station cafe at Keswick for a bacon butty and a ride down through the lakes to top it all off. A brilliant couple of days and a massive thankyou to the ABR guys for putting it together :D I'll definitely be trying a few more very soon.

Nice pics!

I wish the Vulcan was still flying. I will never forget my kids faces when we sat on the hill above Windermere to watch the Vulcan do a 20 minute display in 2009.

It was so close to the hillside we felt we could almost reach out and touch it.

The sight and sound was awe inspiring.

Tis indeed great to get out and about, even when the roads are still dusty with salt. Just over 100 miles for me today (longest ride on the new wheels yet), some of them on the rough stuff.

Is that pic at the beach Lyme Regis? If so, I think I've parked my bike in that very spot before now.
