Corsica & Sardinia Motorcycle Tour from the UK
Hi
You may have seen on here part of our Alps trip we did this summer on our R1200GSA
I thought some of you might be interested in the trip we did in 2018 to Corsica & Sardinia over 16 days travelling from UK down through France
This video covers the trip from UK, down through France to Corsica there is a 2nd episode that covers Sardinia back to the UK.
Corsica is a stunning Island, but the driving standards in both Corsica & Sardinia are really poor, think London rush hour on drugs, fortunately Sardinia especially is fairly sparsely populated once you get out of the major towns
Anyway if you were thinking about doing something similar hopefully it will give you some ideas or inspiration
The routes we used and Hotels we stayed in are all listed
This is the video link -
Alternatively, you can search YOUTUBE for, PJY Motorcycling you are looking for Episode 1 - Motorcycle tour from UK to Corsica & Sardinia
It is all shot in HD so looks great on a smart TV

Re: Corsica & Sardinia Motorcycle Tour from the UK
In June I went with a couple of friends. A week in Corsica, four days in Sardinia. Plus 4 or 5 days each way there and back. An excellent trip. I particularly enjoyed Corsica, especially inland, just be on the watch out for wandering pigs. I didn't find the local drivers to be too bad. If you're short of time it's probably worth flying and hiring.

Re: Corsica & Sardinia Motorcycle Tour from the UK
Got an invite from a French friend whose grandfather was from Corsica. I didn't realise he still owns the home place on Corsica and he has suggested a trip there to look at some old motorbikes they still have in the 'grange'. Direct flight from Limoges too. He doesn't know much about the bikes other than they have them since he was young and they are 2 strokes and are running fine as other family members use them. Long way from a GS which suits me fine. Sounds like maybe I should take him up on this one.

Re: Corsica & Sardinia Motorcycle Tour from the UK
Corsica, a lovely island and great for biking. Was last there in 1985 on a new K100. Our lids were nicked from our tent porch one night whilst we slept. We had to ride lidless 50 miles or so from Bonifacio to Ajaccio to buy new ones. Got stopped by a m/c gendarme en-route but only because he was interested in the bike. I can't imagine such laxity today!
A year later I had a letter from the local gendarmarie saying the thief had been caught and would I please return to testify
Corsica - thoroughly recommended.

Thanks for posting everyone, I was in Corsica last year for ten days, brought the bike down in the van as part of our 3 week, 3,000 mile tour, bloody warm in July but we only used the bike in the evenings for gadding about in lightweight kit so not too bad.

I recently acquired an 83 K100RS.......absolutely love it. That was some bike to be travelling on in 1985.mark vb wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 6:54 pm Corsica, a lovely island and great for biking. Re: Corsica & Sardinia Motorcycle Tour from the UK
I had the basic (naked) K100....the RS & RT versions were, if I recall correctly, getting on for £1000 more, which in 1985 was quite a lot of dosh when starting out on a career/property ladder. So I made do with a BMW screen, plus the Krauser panniers from my previous bike, a Honda CB750. I still have a K100.....a Tamiya model, that is, built in 1986!
