Nice day. Apron pass in hand . . . . .
Time to ride
Ride Plan - Head west, cos I felt like going in that direction.
En-route decide to give the Inversnekkiens door a rattle and see if he wanted to come out to play.
Door opens, with Inversnekkien muttering something about just having put the phone down after speaking with my Boss, who informed him that I was “Going west”.
Inversnekkien informs me that rain is due out west, so compass consulted and we head south instead. Over the hills and not very far away . . . via Farr and Tomatin.
Head for the end of Coignafearn glen, cos I’d not travelled that road for some 20 years (it’s a dead end, unless you want to incur the rath of the game keeper). The Invesnekkien informs me that this is THE PLACE to spot Golden Eagles. Not today big fella, just the occasional Red Kite, Peregrine falcon and Ravens.
Headed for an Osprey nest that the Inversnekkien know about. Took a photo of nest, even though nothing was visible to the eye from the distance we were at. But on enlarging the photo, it turns out that there are both adults and 1 chick in the picture = RESULT
Toddled off too Grantown via Aviemore, Coylumbridge and Nethybridge (and a little flooded detour), nibbled a bun, sipped a brew and blethered a bit then headed orf for our respective abodes.
Grand day out Grommit – must do it more often

From the south - off of A9 into Tomatin on the old A9.

Love that road going over to Farr, normally do it heading west, bit more "interesting" heading east when it's wet
