As promised here's the start of the RxR

Its Sunday morning 10.15 so nobody about even here at a "French launderette" ;)

Image20190224_103253 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

The GR64 runs by Payrignac 15km away so i cut across country to the start point

Image20190224_105803 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

There was a fair amount of tar on this GR but once on the trail it was worth it

Image20190224_105808 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

There was a small turn off that caught my eye , so went for a look , turned out to be an old quarry

Image20190224_110201 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Looks like someone had a makeshift home here

Image20190224_110328 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Odd how they cut square lumps out of the rock face

Image20190224_110335 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

The quarry was very smal , maybe 100 m wide and at the far end was this ...... wonder if the quarry workers lived here

Image20190224_110402 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Hard to see but theres a fire place there

Image20190224_110444 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Back on route and as "route de compostelle" passes by here it made sence the GR64 would use it (blue sign)

Image20190224_111301 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Easy twin track routes

Image20190224_111551 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

So many junctions ......next time , i'll be back

Image20190224_111656 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Covered more tar but really nice back roads , not long before another trail appers

Image20190224_112037 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

It'd been all twin track trails up untill now but became more interesting here

Image20190224_112145 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Just love it out here, miles of trails , no one about and the suns out

Image20190224_112329 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Followed this section for 4 or 5 kms through the woods not realy knowing where i was, then popped out here.... Domme Aitstrip

Image20190224_113003 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

The GR's are real routes , probably old coach roads so generally have towns on route, this one took me to Domme

Not bad views from the top

Image20190224_113844 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Image20190224_113846 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Now in the Dordogne where the rich people live ;) but the trails are for everyone

Image20190224_114947 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

The trail here was taking me back down to the river

Image20190224_115755 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

At this point the GR trial on the GPS disappeared so pulled on the the bridge for a pic of Castelnaud

Image20190224_120629 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Took a while of zooming out to find the GR again but i was unable to follow that section due to it going to the castel and on through roads , so skipped round following the river

But i was rewarded with views where the rich folk live .....i was in the Dordogne after all and theres said to be 1001 Chateaux here

Image20190224_121255 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Across the river was where Jax and i ate yesterday Beynac et Cazenac

Followed the river along the road for less than 3km and yet another chateau...................this one had its own "Gargoyle"

Image20190224_124323 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Straight after that i was back on the dirt ........dusty as hell aswell , you'd think it was summer not Febuary

Image20190224_124607 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Up high here and a nice wild camp spot

Image20190224_124744 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Image20190224_124806 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Soon dropped down into the valley again , so many differant trails , no mud yet ;)

Image20190224_125011 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Nice little water feature......its another old French washing area

Image20190224_125146 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Climbing back up and another sheperds hut , big one this , had a fire place and sleep 6

Image20190224_125502 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Bit of techy stuff , pretty steep and loose stones

Image20190224_125928 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

More tight wooded stuff , little used but still marked up on the tree , red and white flash

Image20190224_130122 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Same section about a klick further on , it really isn't used that much

Image20190224_131014 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Enjoy these tighter sections

Image20190224_131118 by Philip Parkinson, on Flickr

Popped out here

lucky lucky man. Looks like a wee fishing rod could come in handy round there too.

Also looks like you could have alot of fun on an Electric Mountain Bike round there.

Great pics, Phil. Sorry, I really should have been there.

But I had a much better time putting up fencing and hanging gates. You can keep your day of riding in the sun and shove it up your arse. Give me a lump hammer, a bucket of cleats, an aching back and several minor injuries any day...
