I had just installed an Ohlins rear shock and fork springs and was keen to test them off road. Of course a super upgrade as predicted over standard.
We had a couple of off road routes downloaded and wanted to check ion they were still active or not; two of them were not.
We would ride a circuit which would include a stretch of trail that would be technical enough in about three sections; especially if on a bigger trailie.......long,gradual loose going on a 30 degree slope kind of thing.
Some great twisties thrown in along with lunch at a dead end stop. You can go for a dander to Lake Irabia or not bother and come back on yourself before continuing the ride.
Pictures to follow but the video is a wee experiment with a drone of Christophes......and yes.....I had a slow puncture once I carried out a pre ride check..... repaired and off we went.
Head by back roads and twisties galore to Larrau.....a right turn will take you to Col d'Iraty upon exciting Larrau....straight on takes you to Puerto de Larrau to pass in to Spain.
Stop to take in the view......
Drop down into Ochagavia on fast good surface

This trail didn't really go anywhere so we joined the tarmac twisties again....
We picked up a forest trail .......
We rode up via a couple of shallow stream crossings and on to dirt trails and in to some mist. Some sections had the tell tale black slippy mud here and there which required a bit of duck paddling like Harley riders do in garage fore courts.
