Bardenas desert or is it

Post by I am spadger »

So after riding from Carcassonne with Wills et al , on TET trails dropping onto the Hiss for a while and enjoying Simons trails , we continued to end of sect 7 on Tet then returned to Sec 6 to play around Bardenas , wet clay mud / sand made an earthworm of my wife ( morty ) on a few deep pools , bizarrely there were 70,000 £ Motorhomes doing the gravel tracks ( more money than sense ) but a great place nearly 200km on trails today 15 on tarmac , not bad for 12 euros of petrol . It was significantly drier in September. However, it's also clear that there's a lot of water erosion there too. Enjoy the trails.

ImageImage it certainly questions the question what bike should I take ,what luggage do I need , honestly some very expensive Motorhomes on the tracks today , but each to their own and if it makes people happy it’s great Image

I rode my Fazer 1000 round the Bardenas In 2016. Even managed to venture off the gravel tracks and onto the sand tracks for an hour or so, albeit slowly 😎. It was bone dry when we were there in June that year.

Well I hope it’s like that today as we are heading there! Was quite wet in some places around Rioja yesterday!

The main tracks are fine , some of the allowable routes off were bogs in places hence my missus getting down and dirty

Also if your riding around punta la negra there’s a digger doing grading work plus some serious bomb holes due to water erosion on one side of hill

Hello,

glad to see that you made it. (We met during the HISS.)

Bardenas Reales was quite wet a few years ago in April:
