Re: 2O16 EDC Maroc Ride Report
So..we finish breakfast and start to get the motos ready to leave Merzouga by whatever time we can be bothered to leave at once we get our hair sorted.
This would be the start of the desert crossing as it were in the direction of Zagora
We'd visit a primary school to hand out some gifts at Ouzina.
Al pulls me to one side and chats to me about the state of my hair.......and how it needs conditioning......he thinks I might be using the wrong shampoo...he suggests shampoo for wild and rebellious hair thinking that might solve the problem.
He recommends I try his Wild Siberian Juniper Shampoo that he orders on line from here
http://www.naturasiberica.ru/en/product ... zhevelnik/
Last pictures were taken at Merzouga.....They think they're cowboys.
Look at Al's hair
Roger wants a picture taken of his hair whilst he's sitting on his GS650
Jon throws a hissy fit shouting that he doesn't want to leave Merzouga, rides over to the sand and promptly parks his Honda CB200 in the sand sobbing and saying 'You can't make me leave..you can't make me leave'
He's about to kick his bike over when we arrive and try to talk him into leaving stating there will be more sand later and he can play in it all he wants.....he kicks it over anyway in a huff and sulks.
I promise a bottle of Coca Cola if he's a good boy. After a short while he agrees to come with us but not before we have to repair the moto with sellotape

Re: 2O16 EDC Maroc Ride Report
First thing before we rode off I was reminded of the sate of my rear sprocket and if I thought I'd be left stranded in the desert if it failed due to the teeth all rounding off.
As I was now feeling reassured, we rode a sedate 30kms ride to Taouz where we would take the quarry road which is the gateway to the desert as it were.
Just upon arriving we stopped under shade for a briefing on what to expect, how to manage same and what the piste would be like for the first part of the day.
They were frightened and asked about the giraffe vampires.....I reassured them by telling them they only came out after dark.....we'd reassess what's what if we got caught alone and afraid after dark in the desert.
I gave a passing man on a moped a handful of Health and Safety papers of which he accepted...I asked him where he lived and he said 'Over there' pointing to the desert....good enough for me......this meant he was now ready to blame if anybody fell off or injured themselves....excellent.....we could now ride our 'adventure' motos officially and in an adventure capacity.
Gordon scorches off on his KTM 1900......
I pass next on my Yamaha TTR600......
Percy scoots by too on his Honda Express
Jon on that Africa Twin thing..he told us it has two gearboxes and four clutches and four clutch levers...I'm not sure I believe him though...I could only see one clutch lever as he passed.....but that was from behind as he has lever guards.
Al passes sporting the new 2017 edition motocross shirt with a matching colour scheme which of course goes with his eyes. To highlight the whole ensemble a contrasting green scarf is worn to break up the look and a pair of leather gloves gives it a certain flare to complete.
I win first prize for dropping my moto....wide trail with a gully in it and I day dream my way over and into the gully....of course in true standard goat fashion...take a picture before helping.

Re: 2O16 EDC Maroc Ride Report
We carry on in the direction of Ouzina.....
We ride into the village and park up outside the school and I saunter in to see if it's OK to visit....no problem.
One of the group asks what is written on the wall expecting me to have read Arabic and Berber Studies at Oxford University.....I told them it was probably the 'Bureau de Change' as opposed to 'Primary School'
Whilst waiting the rest hold an impromptu disco......idiots....

Re: 2O16 EDC Maroc Ride Report
I chat to the teacher.
Percy and Gordon steal one of the children's rulers for rolling up wet toilet roll to flick at the blackboard with it......my patience is starting to wear thin.
They were told to stand at the corner until it was time to leave...
Al hands out pens etc......
We leave the school and ride on out of Ouzina...we have a chat with two locals in a Nissan Patrol 6.7 V8 who are heading to Ramlia and then on to Zagora. We park up and stop for tea at a local auberge.
Jon hails a taxi.....
We head off.......
Gordon rides up to sing 'I am what I am'....
Percy whizzes along
We stop near at a place I know as there are usually camels there to have a look at....if you're into that sort of thing.
Oh look...camels..
We ride on towards the dried up lake bed at Ramlia.....
Roger finds a puddle.....

Re: 2O16 EDC Maroc Ride Report
We head to the lake........
They all think it'll be great to have a swim as Roger had found a puddle earlier....
I showed them this picture telling them I'd taken it last year.
They were so excited thinking they'd have a lovely cool off.......
We arrived at the lake for a photo shoot and to race around and around.....they were shocked to find there was no water or even snow........idiots.
IDIOTS.......
IDIOT........
IDIOT.....
IDIOT......
GENIUS.......
Everyone agreed my moto was the best after taking a vote although they reminded me to check my rear sprocket
Gordon takes out his putter again citing that the ground is flat and he can get in some practice. He thinks if he looks lovingly at it and talks to it it will help him win.
The locals in the Toyota arrive to say hello
