Today .. Sunday 1st Aug
Weather ... hmmmmmmmm
Adventure . Yes
I met up with 03001978 today in Aberdeen and we headed south from Aberdeen ..
Hitting the back roads just south of Stonehaven made our way on the back roads towards Fettercairn, did I mention the weather .. hmmmmm ... but we traveled onwards
Taking a single track road from edzell to blairgowrie saw the clouds in the sky did not look good ..
Saying "It's an Adventure" Inside my helmet (and good experience) , travelled on .. got to pitlochry to refuel .
Hitting a single single track road down towards Foss , the road runs close to the river where we saw some white water rafters , then along to foss .
Turning towards Glen Lyon , we got to Bridge of Balgie cafe for a break .. Nice Soup ..
Still the Adventure spirit even though the Weather wasn't the best , we headed up to the Dam and over the unlisted road at the end of the glen . Not the first time for me over that road (Thanks SteveT). got down over the hill unscathed (apart from very wet) ..
Headed over to Killin and a spirited ride along Loch Tay , back to the main road and Pitlochry for more Fuel ..
Then headed back home over Glen Shee / Braemar / Aberdeen .. ...
Back at 2030hrs , 300miles or so ..
Great Adventure Day , even though the weather wasn't great ..

Looks like you covered the most miles over the weekend LWR. I managed about 40, but did knock a wall down in the office as my excuse. Not with the bike I hasten to add, with a carpenter.
Great pics as always.

Aye . Thanks Alun .. yes 300 wet miles ..
But we did get some nice dry roads so it made it very worthwhile, IMO. But we see if 03001978 thought the same when comes online .
Adventure you say .. Yes it was ..

I must get a comfier seat!
Great roads, so much so that the route shall be repeated again this weekend with my bro!
It was good to make a link between the forum and heading for a ride with a fellow forum user and completing a route that I would never have ventured on otherwise.
For those wanting to replicate the route here is the link to the google map. The unclassified road seems to be on Google maps.

LWR, Is this correct?

Glad you enjoyed the trip , your google maps is nearly correct , apart from south of stonehaven we took the B966 to fettercairn to edzell , then took unclassified road to Cortachy then down to Blairgowrie .. Remember the t junction I was a bit unsure about .. that was the signpost to Cortachy that caught me out , thought it should say Blairgowrie .. but it was the correct road ..
Apart from that spot on ...
Note to self , get waterproof boots ..
