Sunday ride...

Post by Tyrant68 »

The intention was to leave about 8am...fail
Finally woke at 09.30 so a quick shower and coffee and Myself and the Austrian were off for a Sunday drive.

First byway was the macmillan Way and headed over to Towcester for fuel

Image

The idea was to go to Salcey Forest between Northampton and Milton Keynes to look at the Forest Cafe as a possible lunch/tea stop (honest)
Did a small byway before Patishall and found another before Blisworth :silly:

hell it was stormy

Then it cleared :P

Image
A few nice twisties through several scenic village and over to the Forest Cafe
Can highly recommend this place for a stop. Plenty of seating area in and outside , good quality food and plenty of parking.
Just make sure you take cash as well as they have a random GPRS signal and their card machine doesn't always work

well I had no windscreen

Image

Fuelled and headed over to Castle Ashby , stopping at the fishing lake for a few photos

Image

Image

Through Olney and over to a byway near Yardley Hastings which was a mix of fast gravel, bombholes, mown grass, switchbacks, jumps :cheer:
A few around Santa pod (avoiding the track) and did the route in reverse.

Better not leave the Austrian there too long

I'll save this one for November

The thought of being buried in a cold church yard doesn't appeal, the thought of being buried here instead is... Good fertiliser for the trees too

Image

Rode back through the same villages and byways and over to the Dodford water byway which has got a bit deeper with the recent rain. A short Strata Florida

B) The ground is in desperate need of rain

Soon to be fields of Gold...

Having wanted to Adventurise the EXC a bit a friend recommended this rack from the states.

Rear mounted vidcam needs a bit of work to stabilise though

All in all a good run out which has finally destroyed any life left in the AC10's

Looks like you had fun.

Salcey forest, Olney etc are my old neck of the woods before I moved to Cov.

Used to live in Wootton not far from Salcey, and my grandparents used to live in Olney :)

Salcey isn't too far from me about 15 or so miles. First time I've been there, shame you can't take the bike around the trails.

Lovely stuff, Tyrant. :)

Can I ask please - Which Kriega pack is that on the back, and what do you reckon to it?

Cheers

Cheers, LWR.
Just pondering adding a US-30 but need to find somewhere Central Belt (Glasgow ideally) to see how it looks on the bike and whether it'll take a laptop.
I've heard some reports but it's not cheap stuff so it's nice to get your thoughts. :)

Doggo it's a US-5 on the back. I 'm a kriega fan. Have the R15/hydro3/us-5/ stash wallet/ and 3 smaller cubes plus laptop case
Thanks for all the compliments :) it was a lovely day and I avoided the rain
