Brilliant ride report. Many thanks for taking the time to share this. Evoked some good memories of Hanoi (one of the highlights an hour long haircut on the pavement) and Halong Bay.

Those photos are great and the one of a bike being carried behind a rider is a once in a lifetime shot.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Most of the on-road photos were taken one-handed while on the move so I'm particularly pleased with the ones that turned out. As mentioned in the posts above, we will be returning to Nam in just under two months, I can't recommend it highly enough for those of you that love to get off the beaten path. My only previous touring had been around Europe prior to this trip so it's certainly within reach of anyone. I'm happy to help in any way I can if anyone fancies putting their own trip together, it's actually very easy to do.

Needless to say when we are out there again in Feb/March I'll make sure I do another trip report!
