I must complain to OS. The recent 3 maps I have bought of the Elan valley and surrounding area dont seem to have these new symbols on. Unless of course I should be looking for sheep?Alun wrote:They print 'dogging' symbols on modern OS maps.
Ah, I get it now.

A Green lane a Day – day 5
After studying the local OS Explorer maps and the current status on the Trailwise site it was time to go green laning through the dogging hotspot of Warwickshire, the infamous Burton Dasset Hills.
The plan of attack was a stealth approach from the north and confront whatever needed to be confronted with a nod, wink and a smile.
And so the assault began, approaching from just outside the village of Northend.
Slowly slowly I went up checking the lie of the land ahead
And behind
And then through a gate into the Burton hills where I always feel compelled to commit a crime of the off road kind – though never have. The terrain up on the tops is steep ups and downs and that sort of rolling landscape that conjures up thoughts of re-enacting the Steve Mcqueen jump in the Great Escape. But where are the doggers?
They're not here
And they're not there
But wait. Possibles?
Maybes?
No luck I'm afraid, the doggers of Middle England don't do mid afternoons. So now it's onto green lane No2 ...............

Re: A Green Lane a day keeps work at bay
Heading back to the ABR office I pass the Jaguar/Landrover and Aston Martin plants and stumbled on this little gem. And so had a few cows
First up, it's across a field with livestock and then into the jungle where the lane narrows to this
And then to this...
And then it's all over and a short ride to lane 3 leading down towards Wellsbourne which starts off with a few ruts
Some nice open sections through fields of gold
And then some seriously rutted stuff through a crop field – let her rip.
More rutty lanes followed by a fast, flat section and then a nice ride through a woods and it's the end of Day 5
Not sure where I'm heading on Day 6, I'll consult the OS map in the bath tonight.

Re: A Green Lane a day keeps work at bay
Well... myself, Kendo & Mahoosiv took the bull by it's horns & decided on a 'Friday Morning Ride Out' starting off with a cup of coffee (turned out to be 2 for me but that's another story) at Glebe Farm, making our way towards Ufton, near Southam. Kendo, with all his knobs & whistles, found a great route just off the Fosse all the way to Hunningham. We passed over a dis-used Railway track that look brilliant fun. Lots of dirt tracks off it, ruts & stuff. Does anyone know if we can use it & how to get on it?
Made our way back to HQ via a route from Newbold Pacey to Charlecote. Took a wrong turn by the friendly farmer put us right.
Anyway, a Bang Tidy way to start the day. Will do it again next week.
Mahoosiv bolted his camera to his bonce so look out for the vids.
Alun.....yes, that was me earlier...
Happy Days.. !!!:)

Looks like you had a fine time on the green lanes but you missed out the dogging hotspot.
