Looking for route suggestions to and from the Dolomites. Any must see's and do's on the way would be great.

to Imst, the hop across to the Timmlesjoch then Jaufen passes gets past the Brenner Pass

Can thoroughly recommend the Passo Grau near Cortina d’Ampezzo. Rode it en route to Dubrovnik a couple of years back. So glad I did, well worth it.

Depends on where you wish to come in from. If Austria you have a couple of options, you can come down via the Timmelsjoch pass or via the Grosslockner, both of which are tolls, expensive ones at that. Cortina is more or less the capital of the Dolomites and also the most expensive, I've always like Corvara to stay in or Arabba though last year we stayed in Canazei.

I'd also suggest going up to Lake Misurina, absolutely beautiful place, then you can always spend even more money on a toll just up from there, the 3 Cime Di Lavaredo, about 12 euros for about 2.5 miles but probably worth it for the views, done it twice now, wasn't worth the bother second time round though

I rode down through Le Mans from Pompey, Bourgeois en Bresse to Annecy just south of Geneva.
Chamonix, Sion and up the valley to Chur. Across to Davos and the into Italy at Malles (Mals). Probably not a classic route but very nice.

Can I also recommend the Via Ferrata climbing all over the mountains around Corvara? Amazing climbing if the weather is good. Kit can be bought or rented in town.

The cable car ride at the top of the Pordoi pass is another I would definitely recommend.

Finally my real claim to fame, waving at the google car coming down from said lake...

+1 for the cable car ride and the pass was a bit like a scalextric track ... fabulous.
